DMT lists three requirements: your current driving licence; your National Identity Card (NIC), or a valid passport containing your NIC number; and a Medical Fitness Certificate from NTMI obtained within the six-month period stated by DMT. Obtain the NTMI medical fitness certificate
Use the NTMI appointment portal and select the medical fitness certification service for driving licences. Follow the portal's instructions for the district office, date and time, and obtain the certificate within DMT's six-month validity period. The NTMI portal says to bring your original NIC and appointment token to the medical appointment.

Prepare your licence and identity document
Set aside your current driving licence and either your NIC or a valid passport that contains your NIC number. Add the NTMI Medical Fitness Certificate and check that it falls within the period DMT requires. Use the exact identity document details shown on your document when completing forms.

Check whether a DMT appointment applies to you
The DMT appointment portal lists Driving Licence Renewal as a service. If DMT directs you to make an appointment, or the relevant office route requires one, select the renewal service and follow the portal's available district, date and time options. Appointment arrangements can depend on the route DMT gives you, so do not assume this booking is required for every applicant.

Attend the appointments or office visit that applies
Follow the location and arrival instructions on each appointment confirmation or from DMT. Take your current licence, accepted identity document and NTMI certificate. For an NTMI medical appointment, bring your original NIC and appointment token as the portal instructs; follow DMT's instructions about which originals to present for the renewal.

Complete the renewal and follow DMT's collection instructions
Complete any remaining checks or steps DMT gives you for your application. Follow DMT's instructions for how and where to collect or receive the renewed licence, then check that the details on it are correct. Confirm directly with DMT if your application route or collection instructions are unclear.
